The best time to visit Hvar is from May to October, when the weather is warm and sunny. July and August are peak season, while June and September offer a perfect balance of great weather and fewer crowds.
You can reach Hvar by ferry or catamaran from Split. The ferry takes about 2 hours to Stari Grad, while the fast catamaran reaches Hvar Town in about 1 hour. There are also connections from Dubrovnik and other Dalmatian ports.
You don’t need a car in Hvar Town itself — everything is walkable. For exploring the rest of the island, renting a scooter, ATV, or car is recommended. Many visitors also use water taxis to reach nearby beaches and the Pakleni Islands.
Absolutely. Hvar has calm, shallow bays perfect for children, family-friendly restaurants, and plenty of outdoor activities. Stari Grad and Jelsa are especially relaxed towns ideal for families.
